West Texas Fishing Report

Fishing at Lake Nasworthy

If you've never fished at Lake Nasworthy, you are in for a treat. With it's large areas of shoreline lined with bulrushes and alligator weed, serene and quite areas are high in quantity. The lake is an old shallow reservoir and mostly a mud bank. It features five fish habitat structures made from tree piles.

You will have no problem finding a boat ramp, as they are numerous. Also, there is plenty of camping areas near by if you've traveled from out of town.

Angling Opportunities

At Lake Nasworthy for the 2021 season, you'll have good luck with catfish and white bass. As in most lakes, there are specific areas of the lake that we've found where white bass is best. These are found in the reservoir. We're happy to share our secret fishing area gems, but you'll need to come visit our store for that info!

Most of the time at Lake Nasworthy, crappie is quite good - as is largemouth bass. We've seen some real winners. The lake has plenty of sunfish species that can make your fishing trip enjoyable. Way back when, we would catch red drum, however they are no longer stocked in the lake. Don't forget your baits and lures.

Here's What You'll Catch

  • Largemouth Bass
  • White Bass

Proline Fishing Tips

If it's largemouth bass you're after, you will have good luck dabbling in the bulrushes. This is where the angler uses a long stout fishing rod to gently lower into the bulrushes. The angler gently lifts and drops the bait and few inches.  Minnows and jigs will get you crappie around the bridges and dock pilings. Catfish is pretty much everywhere in Lake Nasworthy, you can use live or prepared baits. The best sunfish are caught with small baits in the alligator weeks along the rip rap. You'll also find white bass throughout the reservoir using live or prepared baits.
